The short answer is no, you get what you pay for. What line have you just loaded?

Don't think they all do. I use Rio Gold or Cortland 444 and they have hardly any memory-nothing a quick tug wouldn't sort just before you begin to fish anyway. Try taking the line back off and give it a good stretching for a couple of hours, preferably on a sunny day.

Apparantly some people manage to twist them when putting them on. Not sure how but I've heard they do.

What type/make of line are you using?

Chris.

Just read above post-you really do get what you pay for (usually)...

No. The 'EXPERT' Dry Fly Line has no memory at all.

It's done by letting the line fall off the edges of the spool, and OP no not all lines have memory issues

How are you spooling it?

Most of my lines cost me 4, and I don't have twist or memory problems, so it's not necessarily getting what you pay for.

Surely all lines must have some element of memory, no matter how minimal.

Best line I have with no memory is cheap, about 12, (airflow),the worst more expensive, about 30 (sold to me by the guy at the fishing shop as being excellent because it had no memory). Of course, I have others, cheap and expensive, which have verying degrees of memory. Have other Airlow lines which are bad. Seems no real correlation to me. Luck, probably.
