    That's the spirit!

When I met the missis she thought the whole thing was really cool, sexy even! Now she thinks I'm a geeky nerd and if I come home from the river still in my waders its pretty much a guarantee of no action that night or week!
She finds the whole excitement at pics of trout pretty hilarious and likes to shout things like "fish on" at me occasionally, she seen that on the cover of a fly fishing mag years ago.
In general though fishing time isn't a problem as long as I come home eventually!

My wife dont mind in the slightest and i go 3 -4 times a week, Shes glad to get rid I think and gives her chance to watch all her recorded telly, She's also used to me spending money all the time on tackle and if she moans when I want a new rod I just take or have it sent it to my dads and pick it up next time fishing, She is so disinterested she never notices when i sneak new tackle in the house after a days fishing.

The missus is a photography enthusiast. My fishing gear isn't as expensive as her cameras and all the prints and competitions at her cub add up.

We're pretty evens on the spend and geekery stakes and so she's happy to live and let live...

    No problems here.

Fishing cost me my first partner (of 14 years)......and to be honest it's putting a very big strain on my present relationship......

They all seem to really resent the time and effort I spend fishing, and that my hobby seems to be an all consuming passion at the expense of everything else....(her words)

Although I accept this to be true, I can't change who I am or what I do.......they knew I fished before we started a relationship so why try and change me years on ??

Fishing is an addiction to me....I get moody and stressed if I don't go...,.I also constantly think about it.....

When I don't go and try and i do the family thing I just end up resenting the other half ( or not putting enough effort in her words again )......or because she doesn't believe I put as much effort into the family or home as I do my fishing she gets argumentative and we fall out

For me its always been a difficult balancing act......

For those of you with an understanding partner or wife......I honestly envy you......look after her as there aren't many good ones about !

And its an even more expensive hobby to "release them"......pity there aren't other options:-)
