    Default What do Wifes/Partners Think?

My wife has long tolerated my fishing addiction and seems to have partly accepted it. We have been married 40 years, so she has had plenty time to get used to this.

Our annual family holiday will always be at some location where I can sneak of for a bit of fishing. Fortunately my wife no longer wants to take vacations abroad, Scotland being her favourite destination (Whoopee!!)

There always has to be some trade off, unfortunately, whether this be some expensive treatment within a beauty parlour, or a dedicated shopping day for new clothes. So my fishing probably costs a lot more than just the permit price!!

I now have a four year old granddaughter who can now name every fly in my fly box and is desperate to go fishing (absolutely nothing to do with my encouragement). My wife is somewhat displeased at this development and keeps pushing ballet classes and girlie things. I think that I am winning.

How does your relationships fair in regard to your fishing?

It would be interesting to hear your views.

She knows I love fishing more

She just thinks I'm a divvy, either fishing, tying, watching fishing, reading about fishing or on this forum, sometimes three at a time

All fly fishing obviously, she says I'm obsessed i say I'm normal

My now ex decided she wanted to have a go at fishing, my solution was simple Knitsley Mill on New Years Day in the snow....she didn't want to go again

Mine calls me a fish geek... She doesn't mind tho... I could be spending all my money on booze... But I'd rather go fishing... And she gets time to herself... Win win...

My wife does not mind my fishing she does encourages me at times she does not even mind the rods going on holiday with us [not abroad just go where I can hire] she even checks I have every thing and points out tackle shops. No its not wishful thinking its true must be lucky she has no other motives or expensive shopplng trips to make for fishing trips

My wife is pretty okay with me fishing. Think she enjoys the time on her own and thinks that there is is far worse things I could be doing. She calls my fishing mags and books "Trout Porn" but that is the only comment I get (so far).
