Did you happen to notice the price for a 9'6" #6 ?

I think the retail price listed was £299 down to £149 or thereabouts.

Both Sportfish and other vendors had rods in all sizes on Friday
My wife issued an ultimatum: "it's either me that goes or the fishing"
    I'm gonna miss her...

I picked up two the other day from one of my local shop well happy with the one I've used. Just need a nice reel now to go with the other.

    Happy days indeed

There were at least 3 stands with Hardy Demons on sale at half price. I got mine from the Sportfish stand and they seemed to have all the models (length/weight combinations). There is also an area across the way from the stand where I was able to try the rod out first. Felt lovely although it was paired with a rather nice Sage reel which was extremely light in weight but heavy in cost - £250! Was I tempted... yes, did I resist... yes Ended up buying a Wychwood SLA reel to go with the rod as my current reel is only 7/9 weight rated.

There are always going to be problems trying to get 100,000 people in vehicles off main roads and into the estates where the Game Fair is held but it does seem better in recent years and my wheels didn't stop moving last time I went (I didn't go this year).

My interests are wider than fishing and provided the weather is kind it's a good day out although, unless I buy a major tackle item or a gun, I can never quite convince myself that I got value for the entrance fee and travel costs.

Last time was hopeless but only because I had decided that it would be a good chance to socialise my young and exuberant Labrador with people and dogs but it turned into a six hour dog wrestling session and I hardly got onto a trade stand or watched an event. The worst thing was that when I gave up and headed back for the car she trotted along by my side on a slack lead as nice as you like.
“There is no more lovely country than Monmouthshire in early spring. Nowhere do the larks sing quite so passionately, as if somehow inspired by the Welsh themselves. There is a blackbird on every thorn and a cock chaffinch, a twink as they call him there, on every bush...... It moved me profoundly. I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”
