Default Fly tackle shops near Leeds

Are there any shops with good ranges of fly tying materials around Leeds area? Heading down at weekend and fancy killing couple of hours

    There's none in Leeds.

In Harrogate there's Orvis which has a fair range of fly tying materials, it can be a bit expensive:

In Otley, 10 miles north west of Leeds, there's Wharfedale Classics in a small arcade in the town centre:

The only shop I know in Leeds is Bobco tackle, but the tying gear has shrunk to almost nil, he has some rods and basic tackle, lots of clothing but is mostly carp/course tackle. Check out the web site for deals.
BobCo Tackle - Fishing Tackle Specialist

Selby has The Essential Fly, who do both tackle and tying materials at reasonable prices. Ann & Andy are on hols at the mo, but Sarah is holding the fort while they return and is knowledgable.

In Harrowgate there are a couple of tackle shops, Orvis & Brown trout.
Google search will show where, they are within walking distance of each other.

South of Huddersfield is Fly Only, might be a bit out of reach depending on where you are staying, but they have a wide range of tackle and materials.

There is also Steve Bielby's shop in the Kirkgate arcade in Otley, but Steve is not in the best of health and does not keep regular opening hours.
Niche Fly Fishing & Fly Tying Products

These are the ones I use and I hope this helps.

Probably the best of the lot for tying material is Lathkill in Halifax, it operates from a wooden " Aladdin's Cave" at the rear of the owners house. It's like the Tardis, and there is an amazing range of products.

    Lathkill Fly Fishing

It's located down near the Hospital. Very friendly and knowledgable service, go in the morning and then grab lunch at " Riccis " by the Town Hall

Pretty much you are, and if for example the owner ( Chris ) is on holiday there is a mate of his in. In your position I'd just ring the day before just to check . I might only go twice a year but there has always been some one in.

Bobco stopped selling fly tying equipment about a year ago, although you can still buy fly rod and reels, fly lines and waders. It has a wide selection of coarse fishing tackle, I go there a lot.

Brown Trout in Harrogate sells fly fishing tackle, guns, hunting/fishing clothing, but it doesn't sell fly tying materials.

Steve's shop in the Westgate Arcade is a tyers paradise. Grab a coffee and chew the cud for as long as you like with a very experienced and knowledgeable angler.
