    Default Bucks/Herts/Berks Fly fishermen collective

    Hi All,

It would seem on the face of it that we are not that blessed with trout fisheries in the home counties and surrounding areas. Indeed unless you are prepared to drop a minimum of 100 for a day on a chalk stream, season fishing can seem quite tough.

However, having spoken to several people in the surrounding area, it would seem we have a number of gems in these parts, not least Tringford where I fish. What would be great is if we could form a loose collective that pass information on regarding fishing venues within our area, and hopefully go on a few away days as a group.

As a beginner I would encourage individuals of all abilities to join us. The worst case scenario is that you catch a few fish and make a few friends...

    Who's in?

    Aidan

I am in and very happy to visit some new venues as well as help a few people get to know the places I fish.

I spend most of my time on Grafham and Draycote in the summer, with occasional trips to Rutland, Eyebrook, Ravensthorpe, etc.

Winter it is Rib, Walthamstow, Grafham and Black Dyke, mainly.

Regarding Boxmoor, I am a bit biased as I manage it. Even though it is spring fed, we are learning to cope with warmer summers. Ironically the water is looking really good at the moment, bearing in mind we re-open on the 1st September.

Chapel Lane Fishery is still going, and I found it excellent for a few hours, especially in the evening.
Reasonably priced especially when you consider what the neighbours are paying for their fishing.
I left because I joined the Gresham Angling Society https://sites.google.com/site/greshamas/

Interesting, I had not realised there were so many syndicates and private lakes around Herts.

I belonged to one for a year near Tewin, but did not make enough use of it to warrant the annual fee.

    Hi Jack

Isn't Gresham expensive -something like 1800 for 1/2 rod? I enquired once years ago

Wow Jack. Just checked out Gresham, I was totally unaware we had anything like that near us. I adore Tringford, but river fishing is my first love, and thrashing around in the Usk is what got me hooked in the first place. As Kevin said, I assume Gresham is serious money??

There's Tewin Fly Fishers right near me on the Mimram, too.

I think they have vacancies if you want river fishing and it's about 3-400 pa.

Looking at some details about Tringford it seems to have a limit on how many you can release ie you buy a 3,5 or 6 fish ticket of which you can keep a couple. Is that right ?
