Go on eBay and look up drawing tubes. I use a similar one to col and architects use them for carrying drawings. They are cheap as well

I've bought a couple of these. Nice heavy cotton and well made.

After reading through all these posts, I find it amazing that for over fifty years, I have been walking up hill and down dale, over moorlands, for sometimes many, many miles in a day, clutching a rod in a rod sock, or held together with rubber bands, without a single breakage.

Maybe, I have just been very lucky.

Much prefer divided tubes to socks. I have at least 2 rods where the bags are missing so the rod sections are rattling against each other when the tube moves. No problems ever with the divided tubes.

Cheers

The only rod sock that has ever let me down was one for a Daiwa rod, it got a good soaking on an outing & shrunk when it dried out! Haven't ever taken a rod sock with me since, set up by the car & off to go now.

I use the bag from one of those architect measuring tripod things, takes about 5 tubes.
