I use mainly bead head lures so Cat's Whisker, Green and Black fritz nomad. Damsel Fly nymph, Woolly B*gger, Dawsons Olive fritz nomad, Montana are just a few of the patterns I use. For value Sun Kissed Bob on this forum does a comprehensive selection at a brilliant price. Also us Google and you will find a lot of flies and lures sold through E bay at reasonable prices.

Yes weighted flies on a floating line,(So that you can count them down to find the depth the trout are at), or other flies on a sinker(big choice, ask around where you fish, fishery office?).
Don't know where you are but pm me and I'll send you Half a dozen to get you started but don't expect works of art.

Now fly tying is an expensive hobby to start with requiring tools, vice, and sackfulls of materials. There has been plenty of information now archived by the forum about how best to start and what vice to buy. Good luck with that one.
