I like your thinking, can see where you are going with this.... Hang about outside the map shop, when someone in hiking gear comes out do the 'alley and whack on the head' thing. Steal his map 'cos it is most likely to be for the local area..... Subtle and inexpensive...

I was really just thinking if your coming from Montana you might not know you can just buy them in the local petrol station or whatever.
But I suppose you could save a few quid by assaulting hikers

I buy paper (waterproof version) OS maps from dash4it online. Big discount on the OS store price and cheaper than Amazon.
You also get a download code and can use a digital version on the OS app on smartphone or tablet.

The problem for some of us is that the kinds of places where we want to use OS maps are the very places that don't get a phone signal - eg the wilds of Scotland.

Yeh - I have to admit, I have a much better idea of where I am and where I want to get to if I can see a decent amount of real estate at once. A phone screen is just too small to get enough on it for me.

That's very impressive and I'm not at all sure how it's commercially possible. It's even a street level A-Z as you zoom in.

Good stuff.

I see it's "Powered by OS". I think I will ask OS why it is I'm paying them to subscribe to their site, when I can get the same map for free from here.

When it comes to printing them, I find I get better results by doing 1, 2, 3 or however many screen grabs, then cropping and lining them up as layers in Photoshop and then doing an exact print of the area I want.
