    Default Knotts

I use 7 turn blood for fine nylon or 5 turn grinner for florou.very rare that I've had Knott go.I really rate both.
Like the idea of the Davey Knott.easy to tie and don't take up much mateiral.problem was on testing it was going on the Knott every time I pulled it.tried the same with my blood Knott and grinner a lot better with the grinners the best
Maybe if its not broke don't fix it lol

Have you tried the double davy?

The way the knots form and clinch there's no way a blood or grinner can be as strong as a davy.

Here is a good website for all your knots.
Just for anyone who wants to know how to tie the above.

I've been using the improved clinch for 40 something years and it doesn't let me down. I tried the davy and double davy as they look easy enough, but I'm all fingers and thumbs and end up getting angry and grumpy, which sort of defeats the object of going fishing.

I used to use the 5 turn clinch for everything, but now I'm getting older I often loose count

I use the Davy Knot for Maxima and have used it satisfactorily with fluorocarbon but, in my experience, the Davy Knot and 'double' Davy knot regularly fails with copolymers for which a five-turn Grinner is best.

Only use two now, figure eight for joining line and improved Davy knot for flies, very reliable, if you make sure you tie them correctly,(same with any knot really).

I 'liked' TR's post on the Davy knot but my faith in co-polymer has only been justified by the ' one Knot'. I can spit and tie a knot as carefully as the next man but this is the only knot that has earned my confidence. There are sure to be others but it's the first one I came across and life's too short.... Time to move on to another pit fall
