Going back to the opening post, I would suggest that ANYTHING is preferable to the rod clamped between the teeth, fishing's cringey equivalent of when an aged boxer opens a fete or supermarket and the local rag insists on a picture of boxer and mayor holding a clenched fist beneath each other's chins. Because that's never been done before.
