A couple of hours on the canal fly fishing for Perch. Did quite well. They do like to chase a fly, and when one grabs it they suddenly all want a go at the same fly!

That's me sorted for tomorrow , tackle ready and new tippet on the reel. Sod the rain, I don't mind getting wet (as long as it's not in the river ). Might just try a variant of my cdc dry.

Fishing related I called in at Foxon's, just bought some super glue , talking to a chap in there who was on Llyn Brenig I think it was at the weekend who said he'd never caught as many fish with bad cormorant damage to them, some very bad
Rest of the day I've been going though tissues by the score, got a cold from somewhere and it's at the streaming stage

Oh, yesterday I tied some Walt's sexy worms with Buzzerfans appleby olive body and an orange collar behind a copper bead, hope to give them a try soon.

I just caught this beauty, which is a fairly decent size for my river. Single nymph like fly, which is my own design and has caught me a fair few over the last few sessions, so is my new favourite.

An evening back on the canal to try out my new Maxcatch 7' #3wt glass fiber rod. Suspender Buzzer fishing for Roach. Great fun, but not easy with the shy biting Roach, boy are they quick to take the fly then spit it out again!

Really enjoyed the relaxed action of the glass rod, looks to have been a very good buy.

Also spent some time with my cousin who was coarse fishing there, trying to teach him how to cast a fly, (I gave him one of my fly rods a while back), not an easy task and more work to be done on that score methinks when someone is used to chucking a waggler to the horizon!

All in all, a nice fun but relaxing evening.
    Best Regards

Took a level line of my Lamson Konic 2 reel (had a Hends camo FL on it which is now on a spare line spool) and put on Rio Perfection WF#4. The level line is now on a spare spool for my Hardy Demon 3000 along with a new FL (prototype). Just need to use them!

Not so much today but at the weekend, (Sunday), I had the pleasure of Bongochs company in a boat at Wimbleball.

It was a beautiful day to be in a boat, however conditions were far from ideal and you could clearly see the anchor and bottom 10ft down.

It was a day of perseverance, floating lines, sinking lines, buzzers, nymphs, attractor patterns and lures.

We tried them all and the end result was Mark excelled himself by catching a 3oz roach on a small black buzzer and managed to hook 3 trout in short succession, while I happened to be facing the other way, however all 3 managed to shake the hook, one at the net much to my amusement and Marks disdain

My tally, one missed pull, a follow and a big fat zero

Still it was a beautiful day to top up the tan and we'll be getting together again for another venture when it cools down. The good news is I didn't lose a single fly

The true angler doesn't need to land fish, deceiving them into taking is enough!

By the way, that roach was a good 1/4 of a pound!

In all seriousness a enjoyable day even though the fishing wasn't great. We'll get back out and break your boat duck when it cools down!

Yesterday evening took a out on Wharncliffe Reservoir, with Lee, and did a little float fishing - well the fish are down deep and playing hard to get now that the water has warmed up! Caught two rather poorly conditioned rainbows, and got broke fishing black buzzers. We weren't out long before thunder started rolling around the hills and then the heavens opened up! Worse soaking I've ever had. Float fishing just doesn't feel like fly fishing no matter what 'fly' you're using.
