This time last week I was on Malham tarn with Scratch.was blowing a hooley with heavy showers and overcast almost all day.
following Robs guidance an intermediate line with a team of densons best ,leggy kate muddler on the point ,dabbler mid and an ordie for the top.
with the wind and only allowed leccy motor we only drifted the upwind half ,and that was funky.
For the day plenty of offers .i had the best wild brown for me ,of some 3lb to the net .later in the day another slightly smaller fish that really slugged it out was lost a few feet from the net ,it just fell of!(BALLCOCKS).
Really impressed by the Lake ,its huge variety of trouut food visable .its scenery and history
I want to go back on a softer day ,and also have another day out here and stocks with Rob,roll on spring and hope i last.
Sorry no pics as my computer skills are lacking!

its a tedious task i know, but it has to be done
how he may read upon the varying skies, from thence to judge the order of his flies,
how he may place them on his trailing link, know which should float,or which should partly sink

Visited Morayflyfisher’s place, Glen of Rothes fishery.
Couple of fish and a chat made for a very pleasant morning. Morayflyfisher is retiring in the not too distant future and as he has no doubt forgotten more about fly fishing than I know, it will be a loss to fishing in Moray.
But everyone deserves a happy, healthy retirement so here’s wishing him all the best.
A great venue, well worth visiting to fish and have a chinwag before he leaves.
Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught and the last river poisoned, will we realise, we cannot eat money.

Gearing up for the Perch season-November on. Tying rigs for drop shotting/jigging. Got the Thames and a load of Oxford canals 1/2 an hour away. It's fun as in Mr Crabtree. Super light rods that make a 1/2lb fish feel like a Tarpon. Just fun and who knows a 4 lb-er one day?

Also been poo-picking (6:30am) helping Mrs who does it for a local woman who has to many nags. Scooping up horse sh 1 t basically.

Went to local stables (10am) to meet freinds who gossip over tea and sometimes cake. Bit sad we lost our pony a month ago-brain tumour. OMG the pain is mega but we are coping. Coping by staying very busy. Yeah that was our day...Chris.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. John Buchan 1st Baron Tweedsmuir.
