    Default Excuse my ignorance, but...

I need some backing and I normally get Leeda Profil, but pray tell; what's Dacron backing exactly?

Dacron is trade brand by DuPont. It's made from polyester fibres. It has little stretch, abrasive resistant, strong and doesn't rot.

Ok, cheers. Sounds much the same as what I'm already using I guess.

Do you get much backing out of the rod tip when fishing skaj? If not it really doesn’t matter what you use, if you like to bling up your reel with fancy colours Rio make a two tone gel spun backing at 70 for 300 yards

Perhaps not that often, but a lot depends on where you fish and what you are likely to hook. One thing for certain....when you need it ...you’ll be glad you have it...

considering that trout lines have a core of 25lb breaking strain I think 60lb bs. backing should be enough don't you think so Jim? easker1
