Yes, the wading is treacherous. I've been in a few times. The smooth bedrock slopes into the river, and if it's got slime on it, you're in.

I thought thelawdscape looked a bit too rugged to be down south, but I might be way off the mark.

Not the Allt Dubh but I wouldn't be surprised if there was one somewhere in the catchment or nearby.
So no not Devon/Cornwall. It is a tributary you are looking for but I'll let you know if you hit the right main river.

I think it is in the region of Newton Stewart.....Bladnock? Is that how it is spelled?

The Tiverton section of Exe I knew immediately - you can see my old house in the picture! I used to fish down past Collipriest house for free, for about 1 mile, past the water station. It was poached to hell, back in the 70s and 80s the town section was 'snatcher's city'.

    Well spotted!

A couple more, the top end of Dowlings Pool

    The river leaving Loch Choire.
Loch Choire Lodge in the trees across the water was destroyed in a fire in 2013. I don't know if it will ever be rebuilt which is a pity because it was a fantastic place to stay and I was lucky enough to go there once.

Sadly the salmon run in the Exe is so poor now that snatching in Tiverton is no longer a worthwhile pastime.

I have never been up the Mallart but it looks very nice.
Looks very similar to the Naver between Browns and the Loch.

Here is one to have a go at.

That looks very like the Halladale on the Craggie beat?
But then a lot of places probably do!
