The water and surgeons knots are the same but the figure 8 is different.
I use a 3twn for droppers and a davy knot on the flies, i agree with above about using the thicker diameter over lbs test.

Forget the name on the video.this is a fig of 8 knot.Just cut the one side nearest the flyline and you have your dropper.

That's interesting as I thought 'retard' was the collective noun for folk that can't grasp how to use fluro?

Isn't this more or less the same you started with, maybe an extra knot? Sounds like the knots could be weak. Someone has mentioned brittle fluoro, but water knots can fail as well as any other. I often find they snap if snagging on, say, the backcast, but other knots do the same. A knotless leader would be ideal if such were practicable.

Almost but not quite - original set up has 15ft 'main line' with 2 droppers attached to it, the quick fix means that you would now have only about 9ft main line with 6ft added to it.

I use a 3twn for droppers if i get a dropper broken I replace it by using a grinner/uni above the original knot so I'm not adding another knot to the mainline, if required it's simple to remove/replace.

I've also looped droppers above the knots on homemade tapers but found the grinner more reliable.
