As my thread, Confessions of a Ne’er-Do-Well, seems to have strayed far from the point, I hope you will all forgive me if I restate my original contention.
Of course Steve Cullen is entitled to his opinions, and, as editor of Total Flyfisher, he is entitled to use the magazine to express them (although those of us who paid £2.90 for the privilege of sharing his thoughts might perhaps have expected a rather more carefully-crafted piece from a professional journalist, with every phrase weighed, every word considered, rather than the rambling and sloppy “what I’m trying to say here, in my roundabout kind of way . . .” Come on man. Spit it out!)
Be that as it may, my point was rather different. I was saying that to call for an end to internet abuse by abusing the abusers (strangely, he called them ne’er-do-wells, as well as suggesting that they were mentally deficient) was rather like drinking to temperance or fornicating for chastity. In other words, plain daft!
