Hi. What line brand is a DTI? Cortland stopped making them here and only offers Intermediate in weight forward.
Doug
Hi, The line is branded as Talon and I ordered it from Fishing Mad a company here in Scotland, you also get them on eBay or Amazon. I don't use Intermediate very often, they are inexpensive but they are good lines. The floater isn't bad but don't get the sinker they are crap.

Just ordered a Snowbee Prestige tackle bag from John Norris, the Velcro is starting to fail on the vest and finding stuff in so many pockets can be a pain. I can put all the tackle I need into it, plus waterproofs, flask, sandwiches, leave it on the bank and go fish. Makes it so much simpler.

took delivery of some old bits of oak cut down locally and stored in a farm yard for years, to make a pair of gates, I’m now regretting not buying imported newer stuff.

I’ve just been trying to plane it straight and my gawd it’s like steel. cutting the joints is going to be fun!
IImagine i will be a dab hand at sharpening chisels and planes before this projects over.
Finally got the last of the joints cut and put the frames together. It’s been a labour of love through the summer between work and fishing.

next to clad them up and hang them

Nice job .. I have some to make for the end of my drive . An unusual design pom the wide rails are puzzling me what is the purpose, also that pegged tenon is cut a bit short lolol . But seriously great job what are you finishing them with ?

As for me I was planting out spring cabbages and glossing the new cill I put into the stain glass window in the hall .

Ill probably fifnish them in osmo oil. though im tempted to just let them weather.

there was a few short tenons, i was struggling the get the lengths out of what good timber was there. I will probably just cheat cut some insets and glue them in, or fliil them with resin. I had to do quite a bit of resin filling in some of the shakes.
i have soild oak planking going on front and back so the rails are keeping that in trim... and nobodies looking at the back of them. , they are to go on a raised york stone step up dividing two gardens about two feet up. So the idea is that they wont seem too solid and impossing as the light comes through those gaps, the angles are to mirror the angles of the roofs and triangles behind on one of the propeties that has this 60's western red cedar extension

...that was my work draw and cutting list.

That's pretty outstanding, I quite like the subtle pegged tenon.
thanks Alan
all the planking is going to be held with pegs too... I didnt use them on the top rail as i had to change how i ran the joints up there.

Seriously impressive work . I have a vision of a pair of gates with a curved head rail and something quite simple . My wife has a vision of a pair of gates with lots of turned bits and a pair of posts with large turned finials on the top of 9 inch posts that will make my 50 year old coronet major creak...

@Waffle Hope you're okay buddy, after your health issues, enjoyed your contributions to this thread, particularly your posts involving running followed by cake!.
So I've been rumbled, MI5 were onto me so I changed my name but don't tell them. Today I jogged a mile to the pool swam 16 lengths (400mts) then jogged back home, not a big swim but my swimming is pathetic. I'm a runner not a swimmer.

Re Acquired my other half of the Man Cave ? Built for my retirement 13 years ago, wife retired 3 years later and took over it ! Had to put up a stud wall just to keep my fishing gear separate. Now we have another shed, so her gear has mostly gone. Took down stud wall and am sorting out gear that has been lost for years (no lights or windows in my end). So far I have a full crate of reels !!! 3 Shelving racks arrived today (self build), now up and starting to clear up. Now have the bi fold doors back and a side window. Looking to put a desk in next and move some tying gear in ! Winter is coming !

I'm spending some quality time getting my dates settled and booking airfare and an auto rental for a trip out of Alaska. Likely the first 2 weeks of November however there's that weather thing to consider this far into the fall.

Destination is into the Northwest states and although the target area is 2400 miles south and somewhat east of my home things can still be difficult. It's much like when you fellows go fishing for your Springers, the weather can be blustery and snow always possible. Still I look forward to this ritual every year and will be ready to go at moths end :)

Back to these places ...
