Okay, time to clean it up a little. There is a lady present. It was cute and fun at first but now bordering on just being obnoxious.....

Lets get back to the fishing discussion...

    Tweed, anyone?

Nope, I'm into silk. Kidding, Krissy! You're right, it's going too far (as usual). Welcome to the forum.

Tight lines to you and all ladies casting flies. If you ever want to learn a foreign language in the process, call...kidding ladies, just kidding!

Enjoy your stay and a speedy recovery.

    Regards,

I agree, cucumber sandwiches are disgusting things, they have no place on this forum.

Although I do indeed live in a cottage overlooking the Tweed and have access to a private half mile tidal stretch of the river and permission to fish for salmon and sea trout, there are people on here who have much greater experience and expertise than I of fishing it.

Most of my fishing is done on the Whiteadder, a tributary of the Tweed - also withing walking distance of my home. The Whiteadder is much smaller than the Tweed, much more intimate and what I love about it is that I can spend all day there in glorious countryside without ever meeting another soul. Just me and the sights and sounds of the river. Sometimes I even catch a trout!

By the way, the cottage is very much a work in progress. I moved in about 6 months ago and amidst an orgy of destruction all but demolished the place. I've discovered whist I have seemingly have a real and worthwhile talent for destruction, my rebuilding and decorating skills need improving

    You any good at plastering?

Well I had bought and renovated an old farmhouse in New Hampshire several years back. I can do plumbing, wiring, sheetrock, tiling, paint, wallpaper, cabinets.... all kinds of things! I haven't done actual plaster work can do what we taping and mudding in the US very well. Then when I lived in Atlanta helped my cousin update an old home she bought including new fixtures, and two entirely new bathrooms top to bottom.

When I tore out the old horsehair plaster walls on the second floor it ended up being 2.5 tons of plaster taken to the dump in 5 gallon buckets shoveled and hauled over maybe 2-3 weeks. I had great arms that summer!

It was by necessity as I couldn't afford a decent home when I got divorced years ago and could not afford contractors.

it can be daunting as you probably know by now but so worth it in the end and just totally rewarding!

I hope to someday find a home with a beautiful structure and great old bones to do the same to again! This time will be a lot different as I will know what I am doing as I do it, no more baptism by fire!

I admire your determination and guts to tackle such a project!
