Peacock Fly Fishing Club- Wye, Derwent, Bradford and Lathkill

Sorting out some old paperwork earlier and came across this flier from many years ago - 1988 would be my guess but I may be widely out.

Norvise - outside of the box fly tying?

Thanks for the input guys, very helpful info, I'll check out the you tube videos. it's currently going at £75 with no bids on eBay which is not expensive really compared to the new price so i'll have a think, time is running down on the auction though. 👍

Norvise - outside of the box fly tying?

I'm thinking of having a try for a Norvise, but not sure if I'll get the full benefits of it, being mainly trout and grayling flies that would be tied. I appreciate these don't come cheap and Fly Tying Boutique stock them, but I'm not sure if it's worth the bid on the one that's up on eBay...

    Attaching net

I'm interested here also, thanks for raising the post. I usually use a scoop net but occasionally I need to use a telescopic Folding Solvekroken(?) net. This has belt clip and it's not comfortable so I'm thinking how to best arrange the magnetic lanyard that I use on the scoop. Issue is of...

    Cane rod reconditioning

Finally got round to giving the rod a try. After fishing for a few hours with my carbon rod I swapped over to the bamboo, noticeably heavy but cast really well. Used a #5 DT line for about an hour or more, landed some nice fish and no problem whatsoever thus far, so I'm a happy chappy. Thanks...

How Do You Revitalise Old Wooden Reel Seat Inserts?

If the seat has dings and dents or little knocks you can bring these out with a hot iron and a damp cloth by forcing the steam into the dent to swell the cells which removes the dent. Often the dent is left slightly proud and needs lightly sanding. Good luck!

    Cane rod reconditioning

Thanks Rich, I hope mine lasts as long as yours has but the school boy error on turning down the section for the ferrules is a time bomb for me, I'm really looking forward to using it but wary as well. At least if it does snap I've the experience now to step up and take on a full rebuild from a...

    Cane rod reconditioning

Well finally finished the little job over the weekend, epoxy applied and rod now ready to cast. Tube shown as well is quarter sawn plane (lacewood) with elm and maple end caps. I added oversized ferrules as shoulders to provide support to the turned blank - whether these stand up to casting will...

    Cane rod reconditioning

The bamboo rod has been gathering dust over winter but hoping to get it out in the spring so started the guide wrapping at last! The jig works well and the slots are really handy for swapping the rests about to avoid the guides clashing as the blank is rotated.

Float Tube bladders - safety concern?

Good point also, as I use mine so infrequently I always inflate it the night before and then check in the morning to ensure it's not gone down seriously before setting off.

Float Tube bladders - safety concern?

I recall years ago, when I was first starting chatting the late great Mr Parton, really helpful on the phone to me as a total beginner. Sang the honest praises of his own range of tubes at the time, with focus on the life jacket quality bladders, plus design to avoid pinch points when on the...
