Absolutely fine. Worrying bend in the rod, but that is all.

    short range line recommendations

Lordy. I thought I'd be looking for a good replacement for the Sages Taper. I am enjoying my Superfine's but whether it is just me I find Orvis lines a bit memory prone unless you stretch them regularly. I'll retreat from the discussion and put a tin helmet on!

You are going to be wading on small streams with wild fish. When on occasion I fish the Wandle I use a 6'6" #2 for example I have a carbon and a glass superfine. I have fished the Duchy of Cornwall waters a few times and when it is calm I'll go as small and light as possible which is a 5' #2...

I remember there was a craze on super light rods, 0's and 00's. Sage had the TXL and Quite Taper lines. I have the TXL 7' #4 ...... others had the lighter ones. I use a Superfine Carbon #2 which is wonderful.

Fly Fishing Books Barry Ord Clarke recommendation

Very good. Big fan of Barry's fly tying book. He has another one on the horizon as well. I love the book plus video thing.

    Magnifying glass and light

Was looking at this issue too. In Santa's delivery I have been given a magnifier, but it, in reality, it is useless, so I'll leave it on the desk so it looks loved and used. Taking Mr Trout's advice I have also seen them on Amazon for £7.99. But I went for this only because it goes up to x5 and...

Wild Trout and Grayling fishing 2021.

Luckily being in Zone 3 London I can nip across the road for some coarse fishing in the local lake and when the trout season begins if we are still in lockdown I can tootle down the road for some wild trout fishing in Wandsworth. Zone 3 travel...... Tier 4 restrictions. I can walk to the coarse...

    Best dry fly rod

So here is a summary. I think you should buy six rods, maybe seven. 6'6" #2- Tip, mid and full flex versions 7'6" #4- Tip, mid and full flex versions That said you might want to get that to 12 and be done with it. This will cover wading or bank. But then if you need to get past some veg...

    New small stream Rod

I have 6' Carbon and Glass #2's. Completely different in every aspect. The Glass is the very very first Superfine and it's a noodle that will flick a fly with no effort, but it is an odd thing. The carbon is a sweet thing and I absolutely love it. I am monitoring ebay etc for more Superfine...

    Best dry fly rod

weather, size of the river and so on. However, Hardy Demon 3 piece 8' 4# is the rod I will never part with .... I think they discontinued it 10 years ago though.

    Nymphing Rod 10' or 11'

Just acquired a Wychwood 10' #4 ...... I shall report back in a couple of weeks once used. I hope I haven't made a mistake in not going for a #2 but then I probably won't know. Already owning four #2 made me think I wanted something with a bit more weight for windy days when I am casting from...

The best trout river in the UK

There are a lot of special rivers out there. I fished the Piscatorials Itchen beat above Ovington. That was special and they do not stock it I was told. You fish down a magical stretch of river with fish holding in every gap of the weed and schools of grayling over gravel beds. At the end of...
