Poland - Dunajec river + surroundigns https://www.facebook.com/FlyFishingPolandDunajec My fishing buddies were there in August this year and they had a great time. They have an all-in package (5 days guided fishing, full pension lodge, no need to hire a car because they pick you up from the...

    Car Hire Iceland

Once you are in Iceland, you will notice that it is really an amazing country. So why not take 1 or 2 days for sightseeing. Visit the geysers and Gulfoss waterfall. Or the famous Blue Lagoon. Just to name a few.

    Car Hire Iceland

I have only 2 recommendations for dry flies. Most of the times you will fish streamers, wet flies, salmon flies... (1) "Hitch" a tube fly. Let it skate on the water and make a V. Lift your rod for this. This sometimes work on salmon rivers and it can be considered as dry fly fishing because you...

    Car Hire Iceland

I have been in Iceland several times between 2009 and 2016. Always had great fishing. Always in July. Salmon fishing can be (very) expensive. We have always done a couple of days on the char beats of Midfjardara. A lot of sea-run arctic chars, always a couple of salmon (17 salmon on 2 days for...

    Feb 2022

Cape Verde (islands of Sal and Boa Vista) offers very good fishing. Lots of different species. But very windy, so fly fishing is out of the question most of the time. I was there a couple of years ago and made this short movie about it. In the morning we caught some baitfish from the rocks. In...

    Kola brown trout fishing

It has to be done with official guides. I have read a field report of some hikers who tried to do a bit of fly fishing during their journey and they were reported by one of the camps to the police. Police came with helicopter. End of the story. As for the flies, I don't know. Probably a lot...

    Glomma River Kvennan Camp Site

Yup, even a small pizza (freezer style) is incredibly expensive in the restaurants in nearby village of Tynset. Might wanna bring some strong alcohols with you as well. Buy it in the shops in the airport before you go on the airplane. All drinks that are above 4.75% alcohol are only available in...

Agree with Bongoch. Food can be very expensive in Norway. Just eat the stuff that they don't have to import. Bring alcohols from home.

    Glomma River Kvennan Camp Site

You can get the permits in gas stations and campings. Cheap! When I was at the Hodalen Lakes (2007), you just needed to put an envelop with the money in a box on the parking. Just shows how honest the people are over there (or used to be back in 2007).

    Glomma River Kvennan Camp Site

A couple of times. The campsite is good, cabins are OK (small). You can buy food in the village Tynset. Plenty of shops there. Fishing is mainly for grayling. Some trout. Pike are also around. Use klinkhammers (big & small), dear hair sedge, ants, glommadog streamers, heavy (red) czech nymphs...

In case someone going to South Thailand (Phuket, Phang Nga, Khao Lak area) and wants to do some fly fishing there, please send a PM and I will share a Google map with you. It includes resorts, river fishing (Thai mahseer, escaped baramundi and others) and salt water fishing from shore (blue...

Thailand Jurassic mountain resort or similar

I have fished at Exotic Fishing Thailand (EFT), close to Phuket in South Thailand. And I have done some other fishing parks where locals go also. I will try to explain the difference... Places like EFT and Jurassic Mountain Resort are expensive! It's because they are stocked with trophy fish...

    Iceland Trout

About polar bears. You ask around (in the village before you go out to a river or at a farm) if there have been sightings of polar bears. Yes, they are very aggressive. We were in an area where there haven't been a lot of encounters, historically. But in recent years the numbers are going up...
