I fish often without bead head nymphs these days.I often fish a drop shot rig now.I just use the same patterns with or without beads. But in the trout season i would often have a softhackle on top dropper.Renegade'Black Sakasa Kebari 'Softhackle Micro mop 'Honey Bug'Teal & Black. An olive honey...

    Micro mop emerger dry fly

Hello all.The last time i was tying micro mop flies.I had a lark around & tied a dry fly micro mop version.I was nymphing yesterday. The wind got up so switched to dry fly.Seems to float good & brings grayling up.It's amazing what fish will eat.

Emergers, the best version of dries?

The cdc & elk is a transforming caddis.(absolutely)The even less transformed crippled version has alway's been my favourite one. https://globalflyfisher.com/sites/default/files/crippled_cdcelk.jpg

I will give the spool tender a try first.I gave it a try & it seems a good twanger.Should work for twanging my yarn indicators too.Cheers all I

Emergers, the best version of dries?

I do think it's a good trigger.Seems very effective anyway.I tend to use them more on my normal dry emerger or dry dropper emerger. If the fish are responding to a skated presentation. I change to one without the cdc puff.I would say they are fairly neutrally buoyant.Well when the fly has fished...

    Elastic band dry fly trick

There's no getting away with it cdc wings on flies work great. But if you are fishing a river with lots of fish. The days where you catch one fish after another.I find you come to a point where it just gets harder & harder to get your cdc fly going again.I mostly fish flies with a combination of...

Streamer fishing for wild brown trout.?

I use these quite a bit & black marabou buggers. https://globalflyfisher.com/patterns-tie-better/baby-buggers Johnathan Barnes has a video on YouTube with a streamer using a single badger feather.I find that works great too.I tied some Kreelex streamers at the start of the season.Tried them a...

    Elastic band dry fly trick

Streamer fishing for wild brown trout.?

I fish streamers occasionally.More mini streamers though on a euronymph rig.Not those big streamers you see used in America.Sometimes fish nymphs dry & streamers all in one day.Wouldn't wan't to fish streamers all the time. You get bait & people spinning lures where i fish. Can't really knock...

    Unreachable fish

LDO. Interesting as i like using a poly wing with hackle either side of the poly wing.I do like to clip the underside of the hackle though.I think i hook & land more fish than with say a deer hair fly.My.thinking is the poly fly is soft .Where the deer hair is more jaggy & bulky.I find it's the...
