He's Fallen in the Water,( High pitched Squeaky voice)

I used to do a similar thing years ago when mountain walking in Wales on my own. This was in the time before mobile phones and IT. I had a pad of paper and wrote my details, planned route, expected return time, etc on a sheet and placed it inside th windscreen of my car. Likewise, when working...

    Storm coming/Finicky fish.

Blimey, send us a bit down here to relieve things please. Last night was pretty unbearable. Very little sleep. Humidity is acceptable but so warm during the night, even outside - no need for a shirt on outside in the garden even at 2 am (was looking for meteor shower). That said, when the storm...

    Perseid meteor shower tonight

I'll get outside to have a look although there's a lot of light pollution round here. I generally wake at 2, 4, 6....... 🙄

    Rutland

Never fished Rutland but many years ago I was driving south down the A1 and took a detour to have a look. I was transfixed - the place was beautiful. I walked along the shore where the temple is, as shown in Rob's photo above. Had I been intending to fish, however, I would have found the size...

Again, looks more spacious than the 2-man "coffin" I bought for about 10 times the price!

That looks very similar to the type I have.

Gary, I have a Greys GTS500 reel which has cassette spools - easily interchangeable and cheap. Only issue is it's quite a heavy reel but it does balance my existing B&W Century 11' 3" rod and newly acquired Guideline 10' rod quite nicely (y)

Now that looks like a proper tent although it's difficult to judge scale. I need a bit of room in a tent these days. I find modern tests a bit claustrophobic - even a two man isn't big enough for me.

Thanks, Barrio was indeed my first port of call but they are currently sold out of intermediates. I have two of his GT90 floating lines and agree he's a nice helpful chap to deal with :)

Next question. As well as a floater I'd like to have an intermediate in my armoury, possibly giving me more control when there's a gale blowing and also for stealth in a flat calm. Any recommendations at a sensible price? Any merit going for a clear line over a coloured one?

8 out of 10 cats (who expressed a preference) prefer sad old fisherfolk wearing wellies.

Catfish record cheat attempt foiled by use of wrong wellies - it's well known 8 out of 10 cats prefer Hunters. (Hmmm, how far can I stretch the 8 out of 10 cats.......)

I know I said you had to give Catfish some welly but that's not exactly what I had in mind!
