Thread: Falls of Clyde

  1. #1

    Default Falls of Clyde

Had a walk up the Falls of Clyde, from New Lanark yesterday - trying to catch the autumn colour before the last of the leaves are down. It was a bit dreich - in fact it was just plain raining by the end, but I got a few shots...

Aye, I could see it coming Jim, but Thursday was the only day this week I could manage and I suspected that next week would be struggling for leaves on trees.

Not that far upriver from Crossford.Head for Lanark and turn off to the right from the top of the main st.

Cheers, Duncan. It is a bit upstream of Crossford...

Just head for New Lanark - the nature trail starts there and goes up the various linns to Bonnington Weir. Strangely enough, my usual daily walk takes me upstream to Bonnington Weir, except it's the one on the Water of Leith, rather than the Clyde!

There are maps and info on t'internet. But be aware - the maps are upside down. South is north, if you see what I mean.

    This was my GPS trace...

... which only started half way up the trail, after I remembered to switch it on. The various birds' nests are where I stopped to do a bit photography and the GPS isn't quite pinpoint accurate all the time. The unscheduled detour half way back on the right was where I took a wrong turn, in a daydream, and didn't realise until I had puffed my way up a hill for about half a mile! Doh! Ah well, the exercise was half the plan.

You must be one of the fittest men in Scotland judging by your daily perambulations.
