    Default Sub £100 camera

Looking for a camera to take fishing, walking etc. 8mega pixels would do me. I know waterproof and shockproof would be nice but I would be happy to forego those features if it meant a nice compact that takes good landscape photos and maybe had a decent macro. Also happy with discontinued if it means getting a better quality camera for my budget or does anyone know of any website selling second hand ones perhaps?

I am also after a second camera for the same reasons you are, must have a decent macro, so I will be watching this thread also.

I picked up an olympus mju 850SW not long after the 'tough' range replaced it for about that price (ebay). 8MP (more than you really need) and a good macro - SWMBO nicks it for arty tripod shots for online sale listings.

No expert but this model is a 35m equivalent lens, some are 28mm and better for 'widescreen' parorama landscapes but maybe not so good for macro shots

I had half an hour to spare today in Carlisle, so popped into Jessops to pick the fellows brain.
I looked at two excellent cameras, my main concern was for the close up/macro facility.
First to impress at £89 was the Samsung ES30 top notch for the money.
Second at £129 was the Fuji Finepix XP10 which is waterproof to 3 metres, handy for me.
I got him to take a pic of a pound coin with both and zoom in, clarity etc was astounding.
I found the Fuji just a touch sharper, and neater to hold, and also the waterproof facility made the extra cash well worth it.
Big hints will be dropped shortly, my 60th and Christmas are just around the corner.

    Fuji Finepix XP10

Have a look at some of the reviews on here before taking a decision. It seem it is hit and miss with the waterproofness and the seals have to be replaced annually according to one review.
