Default Monnow Rivers online auction 2019

    Hi All
Many of you on here are familiar with the annual auction held on these boards by the Monnow Rivers Association. With the new trout season less than a month away, I'm sure your thoughts are turning towards long days casting to wily trout and the chance to fish in both favourite haunts and unexplored waters.

Every year, our auction offers the opportunity for regulars and newbies to do just that, as well as get your hands on some beautifully tied flies, and other special items... none of which would be available outside of this opportunity.

Wicked Uncle Patrick is busy exploring distant far flung corners of the globe over the next few weeks, so in his absence I am seeking to get the ball rolling, and start cajoling, encouraging and mithering you all for some lovely lots for our auction. A day's special fishing? Some bespoke flies, an unwanted book or three, a print, an unused item of tackle, a bottle of home brew... all have their value and sell well! If you haven't got involved with the auction before and are unsure what to offer, a scout through our previous auctions will educate you:-)

Every year we ask people to donate and/or bid generously on our auction, and over those years you have raised tens of thousands of pounds, all of which have gone directly into improving the river.

I don't like to blackmail people, but it isn't just that the association depends upon your largesse in giving and bidding generously... The Monnow absolutely does too. And right now the need is greater than ever... For whatever reasons, the trout fishing has been well below its best for the past 2 years. Patrick and Rob have been busy working with other agencies to establish the underlying issues and draw up some plans to address these issues. But without financial support our ability to accomplish the improvements needed are limited.

If you would like to support us, then please pm either myself or Patrick (MrP) with your offer. The intention is to run the auction from April 7th to April 14th this year. Patrick will post more details of the operation of the auction nearer the time but in the meantime we'd love to hear from those of you with lots to offer.

Look forward to hearing from you...
    TL
