I've had a Forecast, 13ft, 8/9 wt, blank sitting in my wardrobe for a couple of years - thanks for reminding me!

It'll make a nice little project - time permitting.

Default Batson has a new web site.

If you want to BYO they appear to have hell of a lot of choices in components, blanks, etc.

Indeed they do - and they're good to deal with too - they'll respond quickly to requests for recommended ring (guide) spacings via email.

Their threads look good value. 950 yds for $4.99.
Does anyone know how they compare in quality to Gudebrod?

I don't know if they have changed their policy recently but they used to be a 'trade' only supplier. I contacted them some years ago to ask about buying direct and was told I could only purchase via one of the retailers they supply (unless I set up an account and bought in bulk).

    Default 13 spey

Could anyone give me a educated guess how much a good set of components, rings, whipping, reel seat and handle for a 13' 6" 4 piece spey rod would cost me, thanks Paul

You'll find everything you'll need here and you'll be able to price it up.

The batson spey blanks are fantastic! I've built 2 of the 14' ones and have been using then for 3 or 4 years. My Norway comes on trips as a spare!

I bought bits like that of a guy called Wayne Johnson (steelhead56 on ebay) not sure if hes still selling. I havent been building for a while, in fact this is my first post for ages- snowboarding season is over, bring on the fishing season!!
