Default what glue for rod tip eye

i broke the top eye off my rod about 2" or 3" from the top and cleaned the eye out of the broken piece of rod. the eye now fits the end but i dont know what kind of glue to stick it back on with, would superglue or hot melt glue be the best for fixing it on? thanks for helping

Araldite 2 part epoxy for me too. I fix about 500 tip eyes per year in the shop, never had one come loose.
Go for the five minute glue so you have time to align the eye with the others. If the eye doesn't fit snug on the blank, put a layer on the tip and inside the tube of the tip eye, wait for the glue to start curing and put it on just before it becomes thready.
If you don't succeed the first time, warm all ends slowly and briefly (!) with a lighter, clean up and start all over again.
I clean up with toilet paper .

Regards,

If you don't intend to keep the rod for a while araldite is fine, but, if you wan't to keep the rod - when you come to change the tip eye (as you invariably will !) you will have to cut the tip of your rod to get the eye off...hot glue works fine and you don't loose an inch of tip every time you put a new eye on.

That is not correct, Nigel. Araldite will melt when heated, I do it all the time and never had to cut off an inch () to change a tip ring.
