I see you didn't went for the sage spacing Vince. I like what you have done with the blank it looks like a quality buildLoop Cross S1Loop Cross S1.. it just needs a hook keeper i thinkLoop Cross S1.. and that Classic H&H stripping guide just always looks classy, did you went with H&H snakes too?..

Cheers Jerry, mine looks more like the Loop spacing but put a small gap in the lowest guide on the third section, purely for aesthetics. Each of the female ferrules has at least 3 coats of epoxy between the bottom and next wrap, this is the concern I had about ferrule reinforcement. I very nearly went for a silk transparent wrap but thought I might lose the Loop etching. I went with Fuji snakes, light wire in the top sections. Iíll put the hook keeper on the rod tube

Yes the tube is indeed a good spot for the keeper ring. Logic dictates that if the lettering was printed on the blank it probably doesn't really need reinforcement.
Good to see a finished rod in the rodbuilding section again.

I played it safe after looking at how the ferrules were put together on the factory build:

Understandable Vince, the rods are getting rediculously light these days. Its hard to confide in something that has hardly any weight or substance. But i have never heard the loop blanks fail on the regular, unlike some other brands latestLoop Cross S1. I think the shorter wraps on your rod look a lot betterLoop Cross S1

The bare blank felt like a drinking straw, it took me a while to come up with that solution, other self builds thread wrapped the whole length. Many thanks to Taterdu for the close up photos of his factory build.

Nice build Vince. Lovely to see some rods appearing here again. And nice to have an explanation of the thinking behind it as well. We need more of that.

Thanks Simon, Iíll see if I have some photos of last winters build. It was a cheapie, so I experimented with it.

They might be light but the handle some of the Farmoor zoo creatures very well even when they ignite their afterburners. Bobp will confirm what I'm talking about.

Where did you buy the Loop blank ? I see Leland outfitters in the States are knocking them out up to 15' at around $200
