    Excellent Simon

have you considered anodising the reel bands against oxidation - I.ve just cracked the process myself on a reel that I'm making and its surprisingly simple & cheap and the results are superb.

Yes Graeme, I sometimes black annodise seat parts. There's a thread back somewhere detailing my methods. I think photobucket has screwed it up though. The one colour I can't get a good result with is gold, it always looks brassy. The aluminium in the seat on this rod is an alloy which is fairly resistant anyway. I forget the number but it's in the high 7000's.

The rod looks stunning, superb craftsmanship Simon.

I fish split cane rods and even though somewhere off the quality of your rod, people often stop and want to have a look at them. Sometimes a cast
I think thats the thing about split cane rods,as well as being a great fishing tool, they also can look so special.

I have never cast a hollow built rod, but can see the advantage in rods above 7ft.
Thanks for posting the pictures, top quality work and very interesting.
