    Default Glass build

As a previous post stated, Iím building on a TSG 8 foot 4/5# four piece s glass blank from Mark at Taniwha rodworks. Iíve got to plod away because of time restraints so will post up as I go. Tonight I fitted the seat, cork and winding check and splined the blank. Right now Iím filing the guide feet (which are black and apart from filing from the bottom Iím stuck for damaging the black finish). Anyways thereís a couple of pics of the seat and cork in my album, Iíve no idea how to attach them to a post (new forum is different).

Got a little time tonight so am messing with my build, I’ve started to wrap the but section (decorative) and have went with a burnt amber nylon size a and black tip wraps. I’m wondering wether to leave a couple of inches then do another wrap (started from winding check) for marking rod size and name etc.. only thing is I have no decent pen or ink to mark the rod. Has anyone ever used a fine sharpie then epoxied over it?

I use this and varnish over.

I use the 0.3. The ink is waterproof and doesn't bleed when finish is applied. I don't see why epoxy would be any different but probably best to do a test piece before applying to your rod which ever pen you use.

Cheers Simon, I’m not sure about marking it, might leave it as is(with two little decorative wraps). I have just started to wrap the guides on, I’m on my days off so hopefully can get it wrapped and 1st coat of epoxy today. I’ll stick a couple pics into my album again.

Nice looking bit of work there Scott.Looking forward to pics of the reel.Cursive italic lettering would be my choice if I was going to write details on the rod.

Attaching pics is now very easy Scott.
At the top of your post you will see a small tree in a green box, click on that, it will then ask you where you want to upload from.
Choose pics in album, then click on your pics then upload.
It really is a doddle, once you’ve done one there’s no going back.

Andy my writing is like a dogs pish in the snow mate. I just scribbled 8’ #4 Scott.A in plain old writing on it. Cheers Mr T, I never noticed that. No need to apologise Bumble, the Enfield is a beaut
