Chris, is possible to get salmon fishing on Ullapool river itself, though will depend on spate waters to bring fish in!
have a look here for description of river, and a few others near by, including accomodation.

    River Ullapool Salmon Fishing

North west coast rivers have suffered badly in last few decades regarding salmon numbers though.

    regards

Moderately priced? (And accessible). If the Ullapool River is not in play due to low water, drive back over and fish the Dingwall AC stretch of the River Conon. There will be fish to catch there in June.

Couldn't fault this place when I stayed there last year. Ullapool B&B And Guest House | Formerly Harbour Lights Hotel
I'd give the Salmon fishing a miss around that area unless you go with a local guide. Nip up and across to Thurso, there'll be some there i'm sure.

In June on that road, "nip up" might not be possible!

Well heading back to Dingwall then up to Thurso would be a three hour trip, going by Durness would be about 50% longer, then add an extra time for the traffic on the NC 500.

    Could be a long day.

Really, I thought it would only take a couple of hours. Worth an overnighter then. I was doing the NC500 while there. Stunning part of the world.
