    Hi,

I use a #10 outfit with a reel holding a lot of backing. Leader is 9ft of straight 50lb nylon. The bite tippet is 18-20 inches of multi-strand, nylon coated wire. This has crimped loops at each end, one is loop-to-looped to the leader and the other has a split ring attachment to the fly. (Probably not too different from a pike fly set-up)

The flies I use are standard 4-5 inch baitfish streamer type patterns tied on 4/0 or 6/0 hooks (I now add the split ring before I start tying as it can be a bit of a fight to get it on and I found I was ruining the epoxy work around the eyes of the fly). The hooks are also de-barbed before I start tying.

Above all I want this outfit to be easily castable. I'm sure bigger flies would be better but the fish I'm targeting are not chummed up; they're cruising the flats, therefore speed of presentation is essential. I also want to be able to cast it 70-80 feet in a normal (tropical) wind.

Once you get the fly in front of the fish (getting it to the correct depth first is important) then I simply strip slowly. I'll get plenty of follows and refusals, but one in every few will take it - then it's a case of holding on :-)

Well not that kind of 'Shark.' Office Lunch room, playing 'Bridge.' They were really serious about this, if they needed a "fourth I would be 'invited' to join. Bidding conventions? Toss that shxt aside. My partner FINALLY caught on that I really knew what I was doing . A few times she kicked my under the table ... "Three no Trump." Another kick ... Look at her cards ... "Four." Our 'Advasaries, spelling intended, was the Company Pres and Chairman of the Board. Flicking beaddie eyes as they looked at their cards.

"Freddie, I need a sail, you got any vacation left?" Didn't but we'd load up my 36 foot sail boat, off to one of my 'secret places.' One night, screaming wind, short sail, two blasts damned near rolled us over. He's hanging on to the mast having a HELL OF A GOOD TIME. I am thinking 'We are in deep shxt.' A few days later I was a Vice President ....

Add on: Introduced him to "Oyster Bay;" nose of the boat against the rocks as he pulled them off at low tide. He asked my once: "Why do you take me sailing?"

    "My Dog approves of you."

    "I like your Dog."

Even by your standards Fred, that's a pretty bizarre post
