Interesting listen as a long time ‘lurker’ on this forum. Tried a couple of times over the last couple of years for bass or mullet at Chilling Spit/Warsash using small shrimp patterns etc but no luck to date. Will have to give it another go as have seen fish but haven’t yet worked out the best state of tide to be there as don’t fancy getting stuck in the mud!

Brilliant podcast!! Quick question re the leaders for mullet. Do you taper the leaders down to 8lb or are they simply single 3x down to the hook? Based in Fishbourne and off to catch the high tides over the next few days

Either way is fine. Leaders are either 13-14ft straight floor or I also use old bonefish leaders cut down to 7ft, then add 6ft of straight leader by loop to loop connection. Mullet flies are easy to turn over and the style of fishing does not require long casts. Good luck.
