This is a classic question where the answer is try (cheaply) before you buy expensively.

The issue in my view comes down to where you fish (and how deep!).
The washing bowls/bungees are by far the best place to start, and the cost is negligible.

Thereafter, if you fish surf, and your bowl is constantly getting filled with water, the mesh baskets are not, IMO, as bad as some say. The ?Maxcatch one is far better than the Western branded ones in my experience, and I use it more than the classic Orvis basket.
But I fished for several seasons with a washing bowl, and it worked fine!

If bowl is getting filled, more holes is the answer, shirley? Mesh being inundated just washes the line into a pile, IME.

I have allways found the washing bowl version far to annoying and "in the way". When I found this, all problems were solved:
C&F line pallet. I use the small size with 6 cones. I believe there are two larger sizes with 12 and 16 cones

I did the same as hvenegaard and chose this one, lightweight, flexible line holders and ideal for long line shooting, overhang being no problem at all, coils will not slide over each other with movement but stay trapped between the soft pins. It does have a Danish price, though.

Seconded. I’ve to Rio Striper Inter - very nice and unlike other clear lines doesn’t coil badly
