Default "Goldenloch" is CLOSED untill further notice

    Goldenloch
    August 28th-Week-34-2018

OK It seems like we have a bigger problem than we first were aware of, today Tuesday we had this BROWN ALGAE stuff come back, its not that thick in the water it just has put a stop on fish coming to the surface, so as of today we are CLOSED till further notice, however to paying anglers we feel that this is not the service we wish to provide, it would be unfair and deceptive for us to allow fishing just now, if season ticket holders wish to come fishing then please do, it would help us judge how the loch is performing.

Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the ďGoldenlochĒ enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed. Is there any Fishery operators out there that have experience in this field basically we have a brown tinge in the water it seems to be very much light sensitive as it is worse in low level light, today is the first day for a week or so with the sun shinning so we will see what is happening O2 level is low and fish are struggling we have aerators running

It is the algae dieing off, this will rob the water of a lot of oxygen, it won't last long but the sludge that it forms will be high in nutrients so next years algae may be worse, weather dependent of course.
Only reducing stocking levels can really combat it but that's not really a viable proposition in a commercial fishery.
Do you have daphnia in the water?, test have shown that they are very effective at combating algae.

Our green algae died away ages ago, we have had a lot of rain after 14 weeks of none and I was wondering if it was unused Nitrogen and Phosphate and Potash from the farmers nieghbouring field that has caused this, our green algae this year only lasted for a week, weeds however in the loch grew at an alarming speed and have died back equally as fast could it be the dying weed thats causing this, what ever it is it is like a massive cloud now but it disappears as well today has been really bright and I have been expecting some fish death but there is none at the moment doesnt mean to say that its not going to happen
