Over the last 3 years our club has averaged between 40 and 50 fish per outing at Raith for 10 rods. The stock fish are in great nick and you have a chance to catch some good natural browns(no kill). Depending on the conditions they will take dries, buzzers, wets or lures.
We also pre-arrange with Raith management to have hot rolls in the morning and soup and pies at dinner time.
We fish a 3 fish limit then catch and release.
The charge this year is 25 per rod including the food.

Fished Raith in a 2 man boat yesterday (Jun 17th 2012). Had 6 fish in the boat on a really difficult day. Water temp was 11.4 at lodge end and 11.7 at West End - air temp was always colder (around 10 decrees C).

Flat calm prevailed and drizzly rain persisted most of the day - getting really heavy at times.

Some very small olive buzzers were hatching and caenis spinners were around.

Fish were really spooky and would come nowhere near the boat. We tried buzzers on floaters but the calm conditions made it difficult to fish static and figure of eight did not tempt them.

Dries worked for all 6 fish, 5 kept for 13.5 lbs - all were really grilse-like in condition and were fit-fighting fish.

Coupled with the friendly welcome and decent price, I'd recommend this as a great day out.

Smile Re: Raith Lake, Fife

Started fly fishing about 3 months ago. My friend took me along to Raith lake and I have been every week since! What a great water and great people who own and run it. During the week its only 10 C&R for the day, this price includes a boat and you also get to keep your first fish. The water fishes well, it is well stocked with the average size about 2 1/2 lb. They also offer a loyalty card, after you have had 10 outings your 11th is free, thats 9.09 per outing including a fish each time you go. As a beginner I have struggled to find a comparable offer elsewhere? If there is 1 out there I would like to know. Lures seem to work well although I got mine last week on a red buzzer fishing the washing line. If only the weather was a bit warmer.....
