Default Glen of Rothes trout and coarse fishery

Heres a couple of fish from todays anglers, father and son, Steven and Al Clark.
weighing in at 7lb 7oz for Steven and just winning was dad Al with 7lb 11oz.both fish were taken on a goldheaded bloodworm on a floating line.

So far this week bigger fish have been taken even though the weather has not been great.jim watt had a fish of 12lbs on a klinkhammer,Will Davies had a fish of 8 and 4lbs on a diawl bach,Bob Anderson had a fish of 5lb 3ozs on a dry daddy and plenty around the 4lb have been caught.Lochs have been fishing well despite very windy conditions and rain, which is welcome to give a good bit of fresher water which will improve catches even more once settled.
the weekend should fish well and especially the Snowbee master pairs on sunday with some larger fish going in for this compy .

Default Glen of rothes weekly report 18th july

The Snowbee Masters pairs competition was excellent with the quality of the fish and fishing, which saw most anglers putting many 4lb fish back as they knew that to stand any chance with winning they needed heavier fish, as so many larger were being caught and weighed in.The results in the end were,in 1st place and winning a total of 500 in prizes, were Jock Ewing and Water Senior with 4 fish of 19lbs 15ozs,2nd place ,winning 200 of prizes was Mark Morrison and Marc Moss with 19lbs 13ozs,3rd place winning over 130 of prizes was Brian McGlashan and Alec Cruickshank with 18lbs 12ozs.Winner of the heaviest fish was Jock Ewing with an 8lb 4oz fish. 40 anglers competed and plenty of fish over 4lbs were caught and weighed in which made it a close competition. All in all it was a great day out and very good fishing, especially for people who had travelled a fair distance to compete, all enjoyed the day and fabulous Buffet and sportsmanship from everyone was first class. A small selection of some of the larger fish which were caught were, John Adams Snr 7lb 7oz,Jock Ewing 8lb 4oz,Steve wright 6lb 10 and 5lb 2oz,Mark Morrison 6lb and 5lb 3oz,Brian McGlashan 5lb 3 and 5lb 2oz,marc Moss4lb 4oz and 4lb 6oz,Tommy Watson 5lb 5oz,Alec cruickshank 4lb 6oz and 4lb 1oz,jack Lawton 4lb 2,Walter senior 4lb 8oz. Jack Lawton also received 100 for a tagged fish caught.

Doug Low also received 100 for a tagged fish of 4lbs, caught during the week and other notable catches this week showing how well the fishing has been was Will Davies with an 8lb and 4lb 2oz fish,Jim Watt hit into a nice 12lb fish,Father and Son Al and Steven Clark had fish of 7lb 11oz and 7lb 7oz,Bob Anderson had a 5lb 3oz,Ally Simpson snr a 4lb 3oz and Ally Simpson jnr a 4lb,er,John Mckale had 4lb 13oz ,Richard Burnell had a 4lb 2oz and andrew payne had fish of 4lb 2 and 4lb 4oz.

Default last couple of days to date.

Well no bull...t,the fishing has been up and down, some have done well some have struggled.Thunder the last couple of days maybe had something to do with the downside of it,but fish have still been taken and some have done well.Eddie Kane had 3 fish out of 15 which weighed in at 7lb 3oz,5lb 2 oz and 4lb 2ozs which wasnt a bad day,Andrew Ulke had a nice fish beating his son with a fish of 4lb 2ozs and Ulke Jnr managed a 3lb 15oz.Anglers have averaged 3 to 4 fish with some a few more than this ove rthe last 2 days.best flies have been drys when things have been right ,mainly early morning and then cats whiskers and white lures during the day with weather conditions and also buzzers.Last couple of days have produced heavy ,heavy rain so there is no lack of water and will give the water a good flush and should make fishing better after it,even though there is always a good flow as the fishery has plenty of incoming water ot it and levels are always consistant even in the hottest of weathers.Weed is not a problem at all at the fishery. The coarse side is still doing well with Zander Christie taking a 15lb Carp on luncheon meat.Good rises are encouraging and plenty missed takes have made it at times very frustrating but some of the splooshes show that the very larger of the fish are closeto the top and the chance is always there of hooking into a good speciman.Blues are also featuring well and if these are what your after they seem to prefer the more natural imatations and not many are taken on lures, but they fight well .

Default weekly report upto 29th aug

As the week ended in baltic weather,a complete turnaround on the rest of the week and it kept the fishing, lets say ,varied.Fishing at the minute is very unpredictable and there is no set patterns or tactics which are working day after day.It is,very much on the day.Fish which have been caught have been excellent, many over the 5lb mark.Eddie big fish Kane, had a great day with 2 fish for 17lbs 13ozs with one at 9lb 10oz and the other at 8lb 3oz on a cats whisker which has been doing well for many anglers this week.Willie Petrie had 3 fish for 16lbs 4oz with a nice one at 8lbs,Colin Gauld had a good day also with fish of 10lbs and 6lbs,Tommy Murphy of nairn had fish of 12lb and 6lb,George Downing weighed in a nice 8lb 10oz fish,Dave leitch had one at 9lbs,Andy Fraser had fish of 6lb 3ozs,4lbs,7lbs and 12lb 3ozs,gavin Addison had a 4lb 7oz,Donny Davidson from Inverness had a good fish of 9lb 11oz,which was very pleasing to see as this man is a total gentleman,John Kirk had a 9lb fish and david horn a 6lb 13oz.Grantown angler ,Joe moore had a fish of 4lb 6ozs. There are plenty of fish moving about on days mainly morning and later on in the day and some are now working intermedietes lines to locate fish, along with lures, which shows that fish are now starting to switch towards feeding for the winter months.A fine time to say that the Winter singles competition will be starting on Oct 1st and finish in mar 2011.All details are on view at the fishery along with list of prizes and names are now been taken for this.

    Default midweek report

So far this week the fishing has been stable and decent fish have been caught,Mike matthews had a bag over 17lbs for 3 fish and later regretted it returning a 10lb and 12lb fish, leslie Davidson had a fish of 8lbs 6ozs,another lady angler caught a 6lb 11oz fish in bright sunshine. The dry fly has been prolific so far this week and plenty of feeding fish, but at times have been fussy aswell.Midges have enjoyed the company of anglers also and its fine to have a breeze to keep them away. With the weather set to continue into the weekend, the outlook for some good fishing is bright, excuse the pun.Winter league starts on Oct 1st untill March 31st 2011.We have also resurfaced the road and ask that anglers respect the 10mph speed limit.
Nice to see the Osprey yesterday, only wish he would let me know so I can have the camera ready. Not long now before he heads away for winter break. The deer are also visiting regular aswell after being all shot out a few years ago and nice to see them safe at the fishery for vistors to watch and relax.

Default Weekly Report to 4th Sept

A superb week of fishingand plenty of decent fish caught amongst bag returns. Some of the hotter days(never thought Id be saying that)were alot slower which is to be expected, but did turn around later in the day and most productive flies were hoppers, cdc,s,Klinkhammers, yellow and white dancers, cats whiskers.Sport was really good on the top.A few anglers did quote being broken off,so please check your knots and dont fish too light.Ther was a mix of doubles taken with Andy Fraser with the pick at 16lbs,John Fraser had 16lbs 12ozs for 3 fish and his best was his heaviest fish to date at 10lbs 3ozs,John Clark had one of 10lbs,as did Jim Watt and laurent Andrews.Mike Matthews weighed in 3 fish for 17lbs 8ozs best at 6lb 7ozs and released heavier later on in the day,David Cardwell had fish of 7lb 1oz,4lb 10oz and 4lbs,Eddie Kane had a 2 fish bag of 17lb 13ozs with fish of 9lb 10oz and 8lb 3oz,Willie Petrie had an 8lb fish,Lady anglers also did well with leslie Davidson taking a nice fish of 8lbs 6ozs and Allie Hurd a 6lb 11ozs,Jim Eddie had a 9lb 12ozs fish,George Davidson a 7lb 15oz,Ricky Turner a n 8lb 14oz,George Edwards a 9lb 9oz,Stuart Mcmillan a 5lb 7oz ,Brian Lightfoot a 6lb 1oz and Tom Anderson a 5lb 3oz fish.Ther was plenty between 4 and 5lbs caught also. The winter singles list is now up and will start on Oct 1st.Blues also featured well and were taken mainly on small traditional patterns which seems to be a feature of these fish and they are not keen on a lure. Most of the fish have been found in the deeper areas of the lochs rather elsewhere due to temperatures and this is where the best of the fishing has been had, especially on the dam areas.
