That sounds lovely, very envious! The good old Bib, what a totally reliable fly it is for any trout.

Our party did not come back this year because the fishing was poor. (If that had been the reason, they would have stopped several years ago ) They did not come back this year, because the estate effectively doubled the price of the package!

It's blummin' typical that the fish appeared the first year we were all missing. You could have put money on that one.

Fortunately for me and my boat partner we found a decent alternative this year...

I think poor is overstating it, I think a total waste of time would have been nearer the mark. Nobody has any idea where all the fish have come from this year but nobody is complaining!
As for the price of the lodge... p1ss up in brewery spring to mind.
Anyway that looks like a good alternative, a proper solid fish there.

    Understating, perhaps?

That depends on whether you are a glass half full or half empty type of person.
But yes it was a lot worse than poor!

Apparently, after the last couple of rises on my local, there seems to be a good head of small sea trout running the system, hopefully there will be some decent sized hens making it to the redds to greet whatever makes it there with them...fingers crossed.
2019 & it will be time for a change.

So far, 2019 has started off pretty much the same as last season. A wet winter & a very wet March so far, here down south, which probably helps smoults/kelts but the colder spells haven't been encouraging enough for migratories, still early doors & fingers crossed.

Hope to see another sea trout that season like this one caught in 2018.
