    An interesting follow on from this topic was when I was fishing a Shetland Voe last week we had to stop fishing because the sea was filled with small sea trout smolts ranging from a few ounces up to around 3/4 pound. Literally hundreds of fish jumping around in the sea. I have never experienced this in August as smolting generally takes place in late May and early June up here. Might have had something to do with the lack of water we have had for the last three months.
