What is the correct way to dapp????

I tried out a 15' Drennan Acolyte Plus for a spot of dapping recently, lines were 20'lb braided backing,to 1.75 Mtr Floss , to 1.75Mtr 6lb mono loaded onto a cheap graphite fly reel , flies were big Scottish Dapping flies tied on low water Salmon hooks. An absolute joy to use , as the flies...

Don't fret , it'll grow back when you have more hair in your ears and nostrils than on the top of your head  .

    Old Picric a.k.a WOIGO

There's also the conundrum of the old Wetfly three fly cast , and the possible interaction of the combination of flies used  .

There's a few variables to ponder alright , but there's one thing that I've learned from this senior guy ,that the base materials to be used and or dyed used are critical. He is adamant about getting the finest Partridge feathers . I got some from Troutline for him and they were exactly what he...

I honestly don't know is the straight answer, but people back in the day couldn't afford to discard stuff like we do now , so it's perfectly logical to think that maybe flies being kept for as long as possible would acquire a certain "patina" over time. On the subject of Picric , I fish with a...

Not forgetting the eyes either , some Evenings here , you'd want welding goggles never mind sunglasses.

Here's what David Rice had to say on the subject, "Golden Olive - beauty is in the eye of the beholder on this one. There are two different colours, both described as golden olive. The first has a predominantly yellow base, with a dash of olive added i.e. it is a yellow olive, this is what you...

"he must of made a fair earning selling flies as most didnt have a bucket to piss in " And if they did , it wouldn't be left outside either . "Jackass" is Irish Vernacular for someone acting foolishly , as in "Amn't I the right Jackass to be tying flies to try and make a few bob" . Any one...

Oh there'd be urine extracted alright with some naive Angler asking an Auld Fella here the secret of his little money earner 😂.

    Old Picric a.k.a WOIGO

All joking aside , the West of Ireland is now regarded as a dangerous place for skin cancers on the face and ears due to the Evening Sun here , and people are now using sun protection even on overcast days when boat fishing.

    Understanding Mono

Remington made a nifty little SA .22lr rifle, the Remington Nylon 66 , so it wasn't just a Hardy marketing label.

    Casting from a boat

Pretty much , but I'd be getting 6 to 10 pulls ,as the Grande is a flyer on a good rod.I'd recommend one to anyone who pulls wets from a boat, and don't be put off by it being a "heavy" line , the presentation is fine , better than a fast inter' IMHO . PS , and the Airflo Xceed ain't bad...

    Casting from a boat

I use a Rio Grande #7 on a 10' #7 Sage X , for Wetfly with a team of 3 , fishing from a boat here in Ireland. It's a great balanced outfit for this application, despite not having been designed for it, and I wouldn't false cast with it when pulling wets from a drifting boat, as there's no need...

    Wear Your Life Jacket

I think that this subject is of sufficient importance that it be pinned here. How many of us wear a Life Jacket ,without any great thought given to it's proper use or indeed effectiveness ,simply because we are required to do so.

Scotty 90 on here had an Orvis Helios 3D 10' #7 for sale a while back, might be worth contacting him , a sound guy to deal with.
