    Making daddy or hopper legs

Am interested to see that you go to the trouble of dying the legs in different colours. Does it really make much difference to catch rate ? I find the size and shape/silouette of the fly is the most important.

    Making daddy or hopper legs

Well done - the lighting and focus is spot on. Let's see some more ! ( I find using tweezers is better than a dubbing needle to pull the end through the loop)

    RIP Hamish.

I still have an ice axe and hammer that he invented. The hammer he called the Message because what ever you hit with it - it got the message! (apparently a Glaswegian phrase!!)

    RIP Hamish.

Yes sad news - what a character. I met him just the once when he interviewed me when writing his book Mountain Disasters - I featured in part of it after I was avalanched in the NW Highlands -an epic rescue!

Stunning !. I trim my muddler heads in more a cone shape from the eye whereas you seem to prefer a flatter profile. Any thoughts ?

    Stonfo Elite or transformer?

Perhaps I am tight but spending what £280 on a vice and expecting too much for that money or making a new base -forget it !

    Stonfo Elite or transformer?

Was thinking of treating myself to a better vice but spending a big chunk of cash to find the the plastic is a little bit cheap in appearance and the feet are not great and then seeing a video of how to add weight to the base - has put me off - even if the jaws are great

    Minn Kota stalking...

I try to when fishing dries but getting the manouvering right without spooking the fish is not easy but when you occasionly get it spot on and the fly lands just where you want it with an immediate take it is one of the biggest buzzes I get from fly fishing

    Why aren't blue flies popular

Just an aside but a serious thought. Your images that I've had the privilege to see on here capture the true essence of fly fishing in Scotland from the fish, the weather, the situations, the flies etc. etc Would love to see a collection with narrative in a book - why not publish. I and many...
