    Bird of the day

Plenty of time kill so how about a bird per day thread? What you can see in your garden or on your walk. To kick off here's one from the dog walk. Could have pictured a male hen harrier today, but only had seconds to get a shot.

I'm a beginner and require some help!

Not all Caithness lochs do - and there are plenty of wormers who go unchallenged, probably with out permits.

    Coronavirus and Trout Fishing

On the A9 today I saw a small camper with a hand written sign on the back saying 'going home to west yorkshire!'. I wonder what stick that poor woman took?

Missing Salmon Project – update 2

Seems to me perfectly natural that you would keep a confidence. In my experience highland river fishers, ghillie's and even scientists is a fairly close knit community so I would be surprised if some don't know the main people involved. Some of the reports (not particularly this study) have...

WBT in Llyn's, lakes. loughs and Loch's 2020 - that sort of thing!

Was cutting wood when it suddenly felt warm so I decided to venture out again. There was a large hatch of midge the day before about the same time, and with the sun on my back it felt good to get out for an hour. Hooked a fish on cast two which was lost, and then moved a fish three casts later...

WBT in Llyn's, lakes. loughs and Loch's 2020 - that sort of thing!

You beat me to that reply by 17mins.:) There's one loch close to me that you regularly see large fish with their backs out of the water 2-3 yds out. Only thing I would add about wading is be careful what you are wading on when it's peaty . Have had a couple of occasions when the bottom of the...

WBT in Llyn's, lakes. loughs and Loch's 2020 - that sort of thing!

That's you 2 posts a year done this year then? It was baltic. I couldn't un hook it easily, I needed to take my gloves off - that funny wet stuff from the sky was occuring. Of course you could have teased this from me in a civil manner rather than virtue signalling a response.

Where did I say I chapped it? Not that I need to explain, but that fish is still swimming.

    Well, I never realised.

No weight to them either. I've picked up a few dead barn owls and one short eared and they weigh ounces, particularly the barn owls. All fluff and feather.

    Availability of fishing this year?

I think the Scottish govt sent out a more sensible message this morning regarding over 70's. Speaking to my mother last night (England) they have been advised to rely on neighbours; which is great advice because the neighbours on all sides are over 70. Speaking of which is Tesco home delivery a...

Aye you always find out footwear issues on day 1. Had 4 takes in total, but all of them were a bit limp.

    Fly Acceptability Chart

According to the urban dictionary a cak attack is a worse version of a 'cock slap'.🤨 Don't ask me I don't know, or want to know; but it's important you too have the burden of knowing.

    Availability of fishing this year?

I can send some wormer's across from my river if you want to keep the numbers up. Although some of them might not be able to do a full day as the tag means they have to be home before 6. (y)

WBT in Llyn's, lakes. loughs and Loch's 2020 - that sort of thing!

Opening day today on the local Loch's that allow Sunday fishing. Luckily for me just outside the front door more or less. Temp was showing 7 degrees but the Northerly made it feel like zero. The plan was to bob down with my new bloke Xl50 5wt, catch one then straight back home to get warm. Set...

    Availability of fishing this year?

At some point I imagine we will all have to carry on regardless. Cancelling a weeks fishing in a remote highland location seems more dangerous than staying put down the road; may be a good few will realise this.
