    Nail knotted loop or braided?

I don't know but the Moser loop used to collapse around the perfection loop hence the aquasure. I've seen some dodgy old style floppy loops maybe that's where it comes from, the loop should be able to support the leader imo. Al

    Nail knotted loop or braided?

I also give my loops a dab of aquasure it stiffness them up nicely certainly no hinging, the loops sturdy enough to support a. 0.6 butt section. Al

I think Pedro's has a fair point its 2 lines essentially, if it's purely for the river why not? How often are you cast 20/30ft+taper on a smallish river. Al

Yes a 7wt slx is 15g but Mike declares that, i can't comment on the opti stream but I'd be surprised if loop tried to hide it. Eta... The loop opti stream is 16.5g 7# on the there website, its built for similar use to the slx. Al

I don't use the X system I prefer using diameter, im not sure what the conversion is might need to google that. For stillwater I buy 3x cut it back and tie on a tippet ring, then add my tippet or cast of flies...

What weight are you looking for? I can almost guarantee, you won't be disappointed. I've removed a snowbee xs+ nano coat blah blah in favour of the maxcatch gold, if i pull both of there reels the Snowbee has a little more memory. Eta I don't have a small stream but it's purpose made for our...

Airflo is the only other offender I'm aware of, there's companies make lines half or 1 weight over but declare it, ime they don't say its a 7wt aftm then deliberately make it 15/16g, that's not on at aftm guidelines. Who else is guilty? I've had lines from most of the makers and all have been...

New starter, salt water and reservoir

If you're meaning hollow braid... apparently it can take it toll on the eyes and it will take up space? I would recommend using the braid recommended. Leaders are a bit of a personal taste, flies can be cast fine with a level leader but I like a taper with a thin section (tippet) joined to...
