    Correct way.?

You could, but think of those tricky to get to fish that may have hardly ever seen a fly before. You could be on for some great sport once you figure out how to land them!😂

    Correct way.?

There are really short lure fishing ones Gary, some even fit in a rucksack. Have a gander on the internet and you should be able to find something.

    rod blanks from outside uk

I ordered some from Germany and had to pay the Vat charges with DHL before delivery (plus an admin charge etc🙄).

    Correct way.?

    Something like this Gary https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/spro-freestyle-flip-net-handles

    Correct way.?

I agree, that looks like a lovely spot Gary. I'd go along the route of an extendable landing net handle with a sponge to wet hands. If you search for lure fishing net handles particularly street fishing ones you'll find lots that are very light weight and telescopic. They use them on the...

Under rated tackle and over rated tackle

I can't grumble about my experience with Muckboots at all. It just goes to show that QC is a problem across most brands. The Aigles really annoyed me though as everyone seemed to sing their praises and I was only replacing the Muckboots because they were starting to look tired.

I was waiting for a report back on these, on paper they are a slightly lower modulus graphite so they should be softer than the Onki which sounds interesting to me (I like moderate action rods).

Under rated tackle and over rated tackle

Overrated :- Aigle wellies, paid £100 for a pair of Parcours Vario and they leaked within two months!! Underrated :- Muckboot wellies...went back to wearing my old pair of these, ten years old and counting.

    super bargain rod?

Absolutely not, I had the srx V2 in a 10' for a #6 and I didn't find it overly stiff. They are great rods for the money.

Under rated tackle and over rated tackle

I'm a big fan of lamson liquid reels, well made with a great drag for a very good price. I use them pretty much exclusively these days.

As Gary has said above, Barbless Flies are very good and Richard's customer service is first class. Simon

Great fish Sean but that picture of the sunset really steals the show, lovely😍

    A study made

Although I agree that it isn't necessarily the gear that catches the fish, with us being fly fisherman and with that the fact that we do far more casting than landing fish I always look for a rod that I enjoy casting. If I have a setup that is a joy to cast (by that I mean you don't even notice...

    Tapered Leader

I use self made and bought ones, I was referring to using a proper knotless tapered leader in that instance though. It's the thicker butt section that I like for turnover, cutting back the tippet end to suit my leader strength. Tying up your own is an easy way to find what suits but this...

    Tapered Leader

I always find turnover is much better with a tapered leader and I regularly fish traditional wets in teams of either three or two. Depending on the tippet diameter (of the tapered leader), I either use the tag from the connection knot to my leader for the top dropper or I trim back the tapered...
