    Your opinions on this?

Have smiled at "Electro fishers" couldn't find a trout if they tried. Have fished before and after - no fish according to them. Caught many ? Dose not help when they wade up the river with their "wire" then return (all by wading the narrow stream they wish to check, then electro fish the same...

    Your opinions on this?

No problem with "promotional" video's, but I find the river a bit too "neat". Like others have commented. I have fished several of these Derbyshire rivers, including the Crestbrook and Litton Club waters on the Wye (friend is a member) and still prefer my own Club water (Rossett and Gresford...

    Orvis on the High Street

Hopefully we can get back to visiting "fishing shops" now and also a few "Shows"? So far the Chatsworth Country Fair is due to run in September ? https://www.chatsworth.org/events/chatsworth-country-fair Chatsworth Country Fair Gates open at 9am 3 September 2021 – 5 September 2021. Featuring...

    Maxcatch

No problems so far, Eco one is now 4 years old and the Gold 2. Both used at least once a week in season. For the price of Maxcatch gear, if I got 1 year out of anything, then I win. That I have not worn anything out as yet is a big bonus. (Rods, reels, lines, waistcoat and even a fly vice).

    Orvis on the High Street

Vintage Badger Sorry but Orvis at Tarporley closed 18 months ago. I feel Orvis have lost touch with the fly fishing crowd. Now just clothes and dogs, shame. Did let them know that they would be the last Fly shop in the area before Meadow fishery closed, but they still closed Tarporley, so...

    Blooming Hawthorns

I was in Castleford about 5 or 6 weeks ago and there were thousands flying around, I went home and tied a few "interesting" variations with the view to fish them on some lakes and my local river - Not seen one around here yet, still the patterns will keep until next season.

    Maxcatch

Ahh Rhithrogena Jf you look through the different companies, a lot will supply single units, it is then contacting them (through the link) and getting into detail i.e. in my case they did not have what was advertised, but on their own link to stock, had similar products. This is where I am up...

    Maxcatch

I will order if and when I can, if only to try another company in China (beside Maxcatch). Prices seem similar or cheaper. I was looking at their "Glass Blanks" at $9 !!!!! as well as a "few" other products. Only time will tell. The Wife pays PayPal, so I am willing to risk it 👌

Fly flies photography system - Flies Photo Gadget

If you go to B & M stores they have similar ones for "On line streaming" (whatever that is) for between £10 - £25 even comes with an adjustable height stand. Specifically for use with phones. No "Fly adaptor" though. I have one of the early Russian ones and the B & M ones beat it hands down. I...

    super bargain rod?

My 1st Maxcatch was a "try it" before you can say it is rubbish. It could not be good at the price (about £30 for rod, reel and line). Unfortunately, it was good and is still a regular "river rod" for me. Lasting well, now on its 4th season. Two other rods from Maxcatch did not match up to the...

Best floatant to bench treat your dry flies?

Watershed pre treatment works, all I do on the waterside is rub the fly on the side of my nose or wipe the side of my head (follicle challenged) with my fingers and use the residue to "re treat" the fly. Works for me !

    super bargain rod?

Still prefer Maxcatch ! I am now trying to order from another "Chinese" company, who offer similar products, but it proving time consuming for the 1st order.

Angling Trust intervention sees charges dropped over lockdown fishing for Windermere angler

A charge of "harassment" by the 3 police officers would have been nice to see !!!

    Fly holder

Green pan scourer with a safety pin works. There is an old chap who fishes a lake with me uses them all the time. Just cuts them in half and pins one to his jacket. Apparently the ones you are after were difficult to get hold of at one time ? I just tell him he is a tight sod !

If you poached your local water what would happen?

Very difficult one this ! On my local water I know most members and will stop and chat. As the river is fly only, it is easy to tell most poachers. This is where problems can start ! The advice I give out is - Never approach known poachers, call the police / EA and observe until they arrive...

    permit costs (vfm)

Depends on your area and availability. Where I live not too much fly fishing, but within 15 miles I have my local river (now not stocked for 8+ years) at £50 a year. Lake of 7 acres stocked at £100 a year. Nearest commercial fly fishery 20+ miles.

They say a trout has a brain the size of a pea?

Is this not WHY we fish. It is not the size of the brain, it is the hunter/gatherer in us that competes with the "wild animal/fish. Long may it continue
