    Out in the hills

That would be great, I'm booked in for another fortnight in early summer but will probably nip up early season for a cast or two. A pint at Hafod beckons :)

I was! There's a coincidence, you had a fish just before I took the photo and I missed one looking at a text (y)

24 hours to force the government to stop sewage pollution

Great to see the Tories getting some well deserved criticism on Twitter. Whether this will translate into a turnaround once the ping pong relating to the Environment Bill ends is hard to gauge. Surprised to see My MP trending this morning, fingers crossed...

    Out in the hills

I've spent a month fishing in the hills this year, two weeks in June and two weeks at the start of October, I got back last weekend from another late season jaunt. The lakes which jewel the landscape up there are surrounded by the great Welsh desert of grass, Pumlumon, there are plenty to...

    Washing Breathable Waders

Can't you simply run a good bath, don your waders and read the news before giving them a light scrub with some soap? Saves getting wet in the bath too, one of my pet hates.

What is the best floating line on the market?

Mine arrived this week spooled on an eco reel along with some tapered leaders, free snips, free pouch, free fly dryer, all in at £20. That's £28 saved on a Barrio line. Turns out the silver version's the same as the black reel except it's silver.

Effect of Water on Fly Line Buoyancy

Hi Tim I'm just about to change a floating fly line which has begun to sink, send me your address and I'll post it on. Its three years old but as the lockdown curtailed my fishing it's only seen two years use. You'll see the portion of the line I've cast the most regularly has cracks right...

    Soldier Palmer wet fly

The one on the bottom left came out well. Keep at it, you're getting better, palmers are a bit of a sod.

Casting practice; Do you ? Dont you? Is it nuts? (and thumbs up BFCC)

I've flip flopped between nail knotting and loops for yonks but since the Chinese fly lines came on the market I'm far more gung-ho about changing nail knotted tapered leaders - knackered leaders get changed super prompt these days. With a little practice you can reduce the waste to around 12mm...

24 hours to force the government to stop sewage pollution

Or anyone else who'd prefer that their river was sewage free. Or anyone at all in fact :p

    River Taff, Cardiff

I cycle along the Taff regularly between town and Blackweir, there've been plenty of trout and grayling rising with mullet and barbel visible in the low water. Literally hundreds of people on the river since Covid kicked in though, pretty offputting. Hope the op works well for you Nash.

What have you learned from season past!

Finally twigged how to use the small nail knot tool on my snips without consulting a diagram, also learned how to tie a bowline which proved to be a handy knot for boats. Started using Aquel as a floatant along with the phrase " Aquel heure est la poisson arriver" Gave Middy Lo Viz a thorough...

    River Taff, Cardiff

I gave it a miss but plan to have a crack at the grayling. Bit of a cr@p season for rivers for me, work/drought/floods/ arctic spring etc.

    Breathable waders, my arse.

I've bought quite a few waders for projects and fishing from that firm, they're a little erratic re communication but they make tough, reliable waders and are good to deal with, I've used them for yonks. Destroyed so many on barbed wire etc. I have a standing free repair with them on the next...
