Also someone asked for instructors to show how to make tailoring loops at will. Here you can see a rather common fault due to taking the ”power snap” concept too literally.

This an utter waste of time, as usual. Shoot some meaningful videos to show your points; meanwhile I am out. Bye.

Good luck trying to make a TL by moving your hand up and down; you will need lots of it! 😉

By the way, those videos aren’t that rare at all; I have a bunch of them shot from my students casting. Anyone can do the same today with any slomo video device, like a phone.

TLs are related to the rate of acceleration during the casting stroke. For the creation of the wave it is irrelevant if the hand goes down or not; that might avoid a collision between both loop legs, but the issue is still there. How TLs grow has been very well explained by James in a previous post.

Some musings on tailing loops for those interested in that topic. The caster is a student of mine and the TL is a legitimate one (i.e., not done on purpose). Tailing loops can increase in size; in fact they do it very often. https://onemorelastcast.net/2015/02/22/mysterious-creature-rides-again-2/

Even I can understand that. In fact I am glad of seeing some old views being challenged.

Yes, I agree. I just pointed it out because it is really confusing to read some FFI members stating that creep isn’t a fault, and at the same time seeing it being considered a fault by that organization.

Just started reading this interesting thread. Here you can find the FFI itself regarding “creep” as a casting fault, as well (task 22): https://www.flyfishersinternational.org/Portals/0/Documents/Casting/Certification%20Tests/CI_Test_2015_Final.pdf

    Roll cast vs basic cast

That is exactly the point. Glad to see that it was understandable after all.

Yes, I think it is. Anyway a video proving it would be great. Ciao.

If "same result with less effort" doesn't sound too cryptic to you it is good... :omg:
