Super light 9'6'' 6/7wt fly rod for £70

The one I got was OK. A fair bit of filler but it was well done. I'd say as good as the handle on my Hardy Jet rod but not as good as the AAA handles you get from eg. Bloke rods, but then it is cheaper. I've got a second one ordered but it is still stuck in China!

    Nymphing rod

You could try making your own? John Emerson at Unique flies, I think can get hold of Hanak blanks in the UK: john7957@aol.com or sells the Czech Nymph champion for £270. For lightness I'd go for the rec recoil rings - cost about £40 but worth the money. By choosing a light reel seat you can make...

Super light 9'6'' 6/7wt fly rod for £70

Sorry to hear that and I hope that changes soon. I don't believe there was any risk at all from going to the lake yesterday, certainly less risk that going to the supermarket. I pre-paid on line, the gates were open so all I had to do was drive 15 min to the lake, park well away from everyone...

Super light 9'6'' 6/7wt fly rod for £70

Just tried this rod yesterday at my local lake - fishing a duo with a size 10 parachute adams and a size 14 black buzzer using a #7 floating line. The lake was very weedy so I lost a lot of fish in the weed, but still managed to land 3 spartics about 3-4lb and a nice rainbow of 3lb now in the...

    A 9' #5 rod that weighs only 70g for £60

Just completed the spare tip, same diameter wire but 0.5mm larger rings. Tip weighed 0.1g less than the original, which brought the swing weight down even further to 185g!

    Outfit for £100 (or less)

My friend recently started fly fishing with the airflo kit and he thinks it is great - around £70 for rod, reel, line, leader, fly box, flies and glasses. For £90 you can still get the better elite with rod, reel and line.

    A 9' #5 rod that weighs only 70g for £60

Aventik IM10 9ft 5wt fly rod, weight 68g, cost ~£50. Following on from my previous posts, I have just completed making the above fly rod. The Aventik blank was light olive and weighed 44.44g, cost £30. I decided I would apply my previously used principles of making the rod as light as...

    This time next week...

I'm a member of a club in Derbyshire, 140 miles away from where I live and, unfortunately, I won't be going there again until the hotels and B&Bs re-open, not very likely in the near future!

    This time next week...

We won't be able to start fishing again until the government specifically says it is OK to do so, nothing to do with the AT. They have only been passing on information they have received and lobbied the government to allow us to fish again. The instructions from the government have been clear...

Removing part of a rod handle

Many thanks for your help. I did it by leaving it in the thermos for about 15 minutes, and the cork came off quite easily. I've put the NoonRoo seat on and the rod now weighs 4g more than before, in part because I put an extra ring on the butt section but also I had to fill out the gap between...

    A 9' #5 rod that weighs only 70g for £60

Thank you for all your positivity. It will take a bit longer as I've decided to swap the 16mm NoonRoo reel seat for a 22mm cork seat, and put the NoonRoo one on my 2wt rod.

Removing part of a rod handle

I've decided that the NonRoo lightweight reel seat I got would look better on my 10ft 2wt than the 22mm cork reel seat that I originally put on, and it should shave off another couple of grams. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could remove the cork that has been stuck on with...

    A 9' #5 rod that weighs only 70g for £60

I was going to describe to you how I have just finished the above rod with two tip sections, but I've decided not to due to the kind of responses that my previous threads have received from some members of this Forum. So I'm looking forward to trying out this, togther with my other light rods...

    Confused about line weight

For short casting, there is very little weight difference and so it would be difficult to tell, especially if you also have a heavy rod and reel. The longer the cast, the greater the weight difference nad so the more likely you are to notice a difference.
